The Orkney Pool season came to a climax yesterday as the finals of the third annual Players Championship were held in the Standing Stones. From an entry of over 80 players the final 4 remaining were Neil Cormack, Nicol Holland, Keith Keldie and Kyran Taylor. In the first semi final Neil got the better of Nicol by 2 sets to 1, while Keith staked his place in the final with a 2-0 victory over Kyran. Commiserations to Nicol and Kyran who both had excellent tournaments and were each appearing in their first ranking events semi finals
As usual in the final a high quality match was played between Keith and Neil but it was Keith who emerged victorious with a 3-2 sets win as the match ended in a dramatic final frame decider. This was a fourth ranking event title of a very successful season for Keith while Neil's runner up spot ensures he remains the number 1 ranked player in Orkney. The win was also bittersweet for Keith having finished runner up to Erik Wilson in this event, the previous 2 years
Thanks go to all players who entered and to the Standing Stones for hosting the finals
