Victory for Men's B, narrow defeat for Ladies B

Yesterday saw the annual B inter county matches take place in the Lerwick Legion and there were mixed fortunes for both teams. The Men's team had a fantastic first session in which they won 7-2. This was a lead the Men held onto for the entirety of the match to end up victors by 17-10. All men performed admirably with veteran Stewart Moar sealing the victory, 33 years after playing his last county which was the very first one back in 1985. The win was the Men's first in Shetland since the fixture began 5 years ago

The Ladies B game is into it's third year and Shetland have been triumphant on both occasions. This year though the Orkney Ladies ran them very close before eventually going down by 23 games to 17. Orkney can take great heart though from having a much younger team than their counterparts and the experience gained is sure to hold them in good stead for the future.

Today sees the Orkney A teams look to defend their trophies with the action getting underway at 1pm.
