The Commodore was the venue yesterday for Orkney Pool’s first ever Senior East versus West pool matches for men and ladies. The spoils were shared as the West Men had a close 10-8 victory while the East ladies enjoyed a 4-2 success over their West Mainland rivals
Also played at the end of the day was the final of The Challenge Cup and it was Neil Cormack who emerged victorious with a 7-6 win over Shaun Spence in the final. This is the 4th time Neil has won this event, matching Keith Keldie’s record. This is also Neil’s 5th trophy of what has been an excellent season.
A great day was had by all and plans are already in place to make sure this fixture becomes permanent. Thanks go to the Commodore for hosting the events, to all the players who partook, to Thorfinn Tait for the loan of his table, to Stewart Gray and Steve Kolthammer for the moving of the tables, to The Standing Stones for the use of their tables, to Colin Macleod for his generous donation, to Munro’s Garage for sponsoring the ladies cup and to Bob and Karen Budge for sponsoring the men’s cup.
