The Standing Stones was host yesterday to the second
annual Senior East versus West fixtures for both men and ladies. In the Men’s
game the East took a commanding 5-1 lead after the 6 best of 3 doubles. The
West rallied at the start of the singles as they looked to retain their crown,
winning the first 3 matches but the East responded to win the next 3. Although
the West battled hard until the end it was The East who prevailed as deserved
winners, taking the match by 11 games to 7.
The East Ladies ensured it was an East Mainland double
success as they came through their tussle with the West Ladies by winning 5
games to 2. Ann Sutherland potting the winning black in her singles as The East
Ladies successfully defended their crown from last year.
